As we head into the new year I am very excited at what is to come in 2024. I've already detailed my publishing schedule in a previous post.
As such I've been been hard at work on the background (never ending improvements) to get my audiobooks into your hands. I wanted to give you some insight into the industry and my plan on handling audiobooks.
I have a real soft spot for Audiobooks as it is the primary way I consume novels. So naturally after I managed to get a Ebook and Paperback version of my novels I wanted to expand into that market.
I soon realised that most things in publishing, it isn't as easy as it seems. And it is very expensive. I bring this up as an indie author, everything costs money. Software, editing, distribution etc...
To give you an example, to get my audiobook narrated would cost around 2.5k USD. That is quite a pretty penny for someone still finding their feet in the author world.
I can't wait for the day until I can do that without even flinching, however we aren't there yet. So naturally I started looking at other avenues. I came across AI narrated books. It was a fairly inexpensive way to get my book out to those of you who consume books via audio.
I started the process and came across the second issue. Distribution... Listening to an Audio file across devices and platforms is actually quite complicated. So I released it on a 3rd party website and I was not happy with the client experience from those who purchased it.
New Audiobook Experience (Free with Spotify Premium)
SO long story short I have some awesome news!
I have partnered with Findaway Voices to get my audiobooks distributed to all major platforms bar Audible... That is a post on its own. Here is a list of all of the places you can now list to my first novel When They Whisper.
Findaway was purchased by Spotify last year I believe and so part of the Spotify Premium deal now includes Audiobooks! That's right you can listen to my novel there u have Spotify Premium, it is already included.

Looking Ahead - Doom Squad
